Lex and Hollie

This is my first blog in a long time! Nothing like getting a wedding featured on Magnolia Rouge to get round to it! Here is an amazing day from the Waikato of good friends Lex and Hollie earlier this year. The day started at Hollie's parents place in Cambridge, where the ceremony and reception would be later in the early evening. Hollie designed her dress and had it made in Ngaruawahia by a friend who sews for love! Chaos and Harmony shoes were worn by all the girls (how amazing are they?!). The Sample Room did Hollie and the girls' epic hair, and a friend Fiona Wright did the makeup. Hollie's parents grew the Prince Roses in their stunning garden which matched the girls (Hollie's two sisters, sister-in-law and best friend) different dresses perfectly. After watching the girls get ready I headed down the road to see the boys on the river doing a touch of wakeboarding. Yeah boys!

Miss Daisy made the cute buttonholes from country flowers and mini apples. After Hollie's Mum walked down the 'aisle' between their house and barn, she collected single stemmed flowers brought by every girl at the wedding, ready to give Hollie as she arrives on her Dad's arm. I try not to get too emotional at weddings so I don't blur all the pics - but when the Smashing Pumpkins started and Hollie and Lex looked at each other for the first time, it was hard to keep a straight face :)

The guests followed the bridal party into the barn, which was beautifully decorated with greenery hanging from the roof. A personalized poem, songs by friends and beautiful prayers were so meaningful and included lots of Hollie and Lex's good friends and family. The sunset shoot was amazing, and I definitely recommend it to future brides if you can!

One of my favourite things to shoot is friends weddings - there is something about sharing the day with friends. A highlight was definitely the speeches; loved the stories, expressions, laughs and hassles from some of the people closest to the bride and groom. The night ended on the dance floor, and what an epic dance floor it was! Check out The Generators for a great covers band based in Tauranga. Thanks for letting me be a part of the day Lex and Hollie, we will all remember it for many years!
